The Human League set for return to UK Top Ten?

The Human League are set to return to the UK top ten this Sunday (March 23) with their classic track Don’t You Want Me, according to the Official Charts Company.

The track has shot up the charts thanks to a campaign by Aberdeen Football Club fans after the team won the Scottish League Cup last Sunday (March 16). The track is popular among fans of the team, who like to change the lyrics to “Peter Pawlett, baby” in reference to one of the club’s mid-fielders.

Richard Albiston, founder of the campaign’s Facebook page, spoke about the track’s climb, saying: “I think it’s phenomenal and shows the power of social media! The page was set up as a bit of fun, I never expected it to take off as much as it has!”

The iconic track, which has recently been covered on hit US show Glee, is currently the 24th biggest-selling single of all time in the UK.

It currently sits at number 12 in the midweek charts, but if it continues its momentum, it will debut in the top ten come Sunday when the charts are announced. It would mark the first top ten hit for the electro-pop group in nearly two decades.
