Midweek chart update: ‘It’s Raining Men’ outside Top 20

The Weather Girls’ It’s Raining Men is just outside the Top 20 in the midweeks, according to the Official Charts Company.
The classic disco track is competing for a spot on this week’s Official Singles Chart thanks to a Facebook campaign to get it to Number One. The campaign was launched in response to UKIP councillor David Silvester’s already infamous comments attributing the recent UK floods to the legalisation of same-sex marriage.
Yesterday (January 28) the Official Charts Company reported that It’s Raining Men was just outside the Top 20 at number 21 – and that is exactly where it remains today.
At the top of the midweek Singles Chart, Will.i.am and Miley Cyrus’s collaboration Falling Free is battling it out for Number One with the current chart-topper, Rather Be by Clean Bandit. At present, Will.i.am and Miley are fewer than 800 copies behind the British electro group.
Meanwhile, Katy B’s Crying For No Reason – the third single from her forthcoming album Little Red – is at number five. If it holds steady until Sunday (February 2), it will give the singer her first top five single since 2010’s Lights On.
Another Attitude favourite, Sophie Ellis Bextor, is course to return to the Top 40 on Sunday – with Young Blood currently sneaking it at number 36. Wanderlust, Sophie’s first album for three years, debuted at number four last week and became her highest-charting album since her 2001 debut Read My Lips.
