Gaydio expands DAB service to Scotland

Gaydio has announced that it’s launching a pop-up service on DAB digital radio in celebration of this summer’s pride events.
The UK’s only full-time LGBT radio station will broadcast across Central Scotland – including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Paisley & Stirling – from July 14 to August 31.
Station Director Toby Whitehouse said: “Gaydio is already available online throughout the UK and with almost half of the population now owning a DAB Radio[1], it’s the perfect time for us to make the station as easily available as we are in other parts of the UK. Gaydio will continue to broadcast on DAB across London & Sussex and on FM in Manchester – meaning around 20 million people will be able to access the station through their DAB or FM radios.”
Alastair Smith, Chief Executive of Pride Glasgow expressed his excitement at Gaydio launching in Scotland in time for Pride Glasgow, saying: “It’s great that Gaydio will not only be available in cars and on radios across central Scotland, but it means that there is a unique opportunity for people to be part of it.”
The Pride Glasgow 2014 main event takes place on Saturday July 19 from 12pm, and will include performances from Lip Service actress and musician Heather Peace, as well as former X Factor contestants Amelia Lily, Lucy Spraggan and Ruth Lorenzo.
Since launching in 2010, Gaydio has become the world’s biggest LGBT radio station, with a monthly audience of 850,000 listeners. Chris and Emma host the Breakfast show each weekday morning, while Hollyoaks’ Kieron Richardson hosts his own Sunday afternoon show.
Gaydio broadcasts on DAB Digital Radio across London, Sussex and on 88.4fm in Manchester.
