White House website now lets users specify their pronouns for the first time
The contact form offers 'they/them' and 'Mx'

The White House website contact form now allows users to specify their pronouns for the first time.
The change follows the inaugaration of Democratic leader Joe Biden this week, after he defeated Republican Donald Trump in the polls last November.
Over at WhiteHouse.gov, the contact form offers offers ‘she/her’, ‘he/him’, ‘they/them’, ‘other’ and ‘prefer not to share’ options.
For prefixes, the form also offers ‘Mx’, for those who prefer not specify their gender.
“Every person should be treated with respect and dignity”
The move follows Biden signing what the Human Rights Campaign has called the “most substantive, wide-ranging LGBTQ executive order in US history” on his first day in office.
The ‘Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation’ was announced Wednesday.
Explaining more about the order on the White House website, Biden says: “Every person should be treated with respect and dignity and should be able to live without fear, no matter who they are or whom they love.
“Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports.
“Adults should be able to earn a living and pursue a vocation knowing that they will not be fired, demoted, or mistreated because of whom they go home to or because how they dress does not conform to sex-based stereotypes.
“People should be able to access healthcare and secure a roof over their heads without being subjected to sex discrimination. All persons should receive equal treatment under the law, no matter their gender identity or sexual orientation.”
