Sick of the apps? This London-based duo want to bring us face-to-face again with ‘KRUSH’

By Attitude Magazine

Even in this day and age, finding a gay network can be tough – and even more so if you don’t enjoy the impersonal, sometimes awkward nature of apps.

In the need of more open, relevant and appropriate ways to meet like-minded people, two Dalston-based flatmates have created KRUSH, a new site wants to make LGBT people’s networking a little bit easier.

Aiming to challenge the digital world and encourage the LGBT community to network face-to-face with other like-minded individuals, KRUSH is the brainchild of Josh and Manuel, who define themselves as fearless and visionary entrepreneurs on a mission to challenge the status quo.

Like many others, Josh was disowned by his family and religious community last year after his coming out.

“It has been a tough year rebuilding my life and the LGBT community has been my support network. I think it’s now time for me to give something back,” he says.

“If you’re part of the community, or curious, come along on your own or with friends and you’ll be made very welcome.”

His flatmate and founding partner Manuel says KRUSH “is a way for people in the LGBT community to connect with like-minded people that don’t hide behind chat apps and pretend to be something they’re not.”

KRUSH intends to run at least two events in London each month before expanding to other major cities throughout the UK. This network wants to involve all denominations of the community including lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, gender fluid to name a few.

According to Josh and Manuel, this is only the beginning: “Much more can be done to open up the network and develop reasons to get together for leisure and business”.

For more information about KRUSH’s first event in London’s Soho next month (May 12), head over to krushnetwork.com
