Russian politician claims Apple and U2 tried to promote homosexuality to minors

A Russian politician has claimed that Apple and U2 tried to promote homosexuality to minors.

Alexander Starovoitov, a member of the right-wing LDPR party, has made the bizarre argument that U2’s 2014 album Songs of Innocence was a purposeful attempt on behalf of the band and the music giant to “corrupt” Russia’s youth.

Starovoitov believes that the album art, which depicts two men embracing, promotes gay sex. He is reportedly planning to sue Apple over the image for “moral damages”.

“I, like many Russian citizens, own an iPhone,” he told Gay Star News. “In 2014, the band U2 forced my phone to download their new album.

Their cover album depicts two men, which in my view, depicts the expression of a non-traditional sexual relationship to each other. It should be noted these songs could not be removed from the phone,” he added.
