Russia: Vladimir Putin’s party unveils ‘straight pride’ flag

Apparently not happy about the fact that equal marriage continues to sweep the globe, the United Russia party has unveiled its very own ‘straight pride’ flag.
As pride demonstrations continue to be stifled and broken up under the country’s anti-gay ‘propaganda’ laws, the party of president Vladimir Putin has decided to create a symbol of traditional family values.
Depicting a nuclear Russian family consisting of a mother, father and three children, the flag was unveiled at a party rally in Moscow yesterday (July 8) to mark the country’s national Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, The Independent reports.
Launched with the hashtag #realfamily, it comes in three lovely colours and a healthy does of hate.
Andrei Lisovenko, the deputy head of the United Russia’s Moscow branch, told the Izvestia newspaper: “This is our response to same-sex marriage, to this mockery of the concept of the family.
“We have to warn against gay-fever at home and support traditional values in our country.
“We are speaking of the traditional family. We mean the average standard Russian family that is ours: mother, father and three children.”
People have been quick to mock the new flag on social media, while some have pointed out that it’s an almost identical copy of the flag of French anti-gay group La Manif Pour Tous. Well, if bigots can’t be original they should at least be consistent.

Meanwhile, anti-gay Russian lawmaker Vitaly Milonov recently called for a ban on fanstasy filth-fest Game of Thrones. Well, at least United Russia now have their own flag to fly over Westeros.
