LGBT activist in Greece brutally beaten to death

Zak Kostopoulos was attacked by a group of men while leaving a shop

An LGBT activist in Greece has been brutally beaten to death.

Zak Kostopoulos, 33, was filmed trying to leave a jewellery store on Saturday (September 22) and is seen holding a fire extinguisher and tries to break through the front door, but when that didn’t work, he was forced to crawl on his hands and knees through a broken window.

Then the shop owner and another man approach him and start kicking him. Reportedly police were nearby but didn’t help until later.

Kostopoulos was taken to hospital but tragically died on route.

CNN Greece reported the coroner’s report gave no cause of death but said his body had several minor injuries insufficient to cause death.

Now, his death has caused divisions in the community as some believe his death was not justified and others claim the shop owner had the right to defend his property.

Local news in Greece report Kostopoulos was a ‘drug addict’ who was intending to rob the shop and claim he was armed with a knife – which many people disagree.
