The comedian and actor stepped down as the host of the Academy Awards this year

Kevin Hart doesn’t understand why his ‘apology’ wasn’t good enough.
The comedian was meant to be hosting the 2019 Academy Awards, however, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor faced backlash online after a series of historic tweets have been unsurfaced where he labels people ‘gay’ or ‘f****t’ and viewers have called out for his removal from hosting duties.
He then stepped down from hosting after the Academy asked him to apologise for his comments but in an Instagram video, he said: “I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old when I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different place in my life.”
But now, while speaking to USA Today, he said that he had apologised previously for his comments and said he would ‘never do it again’, but claims he cannot see why it wasn’t good enough.
He said: “The way that I handled it in the beginning was never from a place where I’m being negative or angry or playing victim.
“It was, ‘Hey guys, I apologised about this. I talked about this years ago and I said I’ll never do it again’.
“To me, that was the apology. The apology was never doing it again. So, I didn’t understand why that wasn’t good [enough].”
