Israel Folau pleads with fans to help him pay his legal bills after being fired by Rugby Australia

The Australian rugby player has set up a GoFundMe page to raise $3million for his lawsuit

Israel Folau has asked fans to help pay his legal bills after being fired by Ruby Australia.

The devout Christian is currently in a legal battle with Rugby Australia after he was fired for homophobic comments on Instagram after posting all gay people will go to Hell.

Following his comments, the Australia rugby player’s four-year $5 million contract was terminated. But now, Folau is calling for help to pay his legal bills as he attempts to sue the rugby organisation.

He claims he has already spent around $100,000 of his own money and wants other people to ‘fund the rest of my action in court’.

On a GoFundMe page, he ridiculously says: “I believe the termination of my contract is unlawful, which is why I have started legal proceedings against Rugby Australia and Rugby New South Wales.

“I uploaded some messages from the Bible on my Instagram page.

“I believe that sharing the Bible is an act of love and compassion.”

He is attempting to sue his former employers around $10 million for loss of earnings as well as ‘associated exposure and opportunities’.

In his lawsuit, it reads: “The termination has cost Mr. Folau the best years of his rugby career, participation at the Rugby World Cup and the chance to become the greatest Wallaby try-scorer (a decades-old record he was likely to break).”

So far, Folau has raised about $1,300 of his $3 million goal.
