Homophobic DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds loses parliamentary seat
The former Belfast North MP voted against every piece of LGBTQ equality legislation put before him over the last 18 years..

The Democratic Union Party (DUP’s) deputy leader Nigel Dodds, a homophobe who has spent almost two decades in parliament voting against LGBTQ equality, has lost his Westminster seat.
The Belfast North MP, who was one of 21 MPs who voted against LGBTQ-inclusive education earlier this year, was booted out the seat he has held since 2001 following the results of Thursday’s (13 December) general election.
Dodds, the DUP’s leader at Westminster, was betened by Sinn Fein’s John Finucane by 23,078 votes to 21,135.
In his 18 years as MP, Dodds has voted against every single piece of LGBTQ equaity legilsation put before him, including same-sex adoption, civil partnerships and marriage equality.
He also failed to turn up to votes on the repeal of Section 28 and the introduction of the Equality Act.
