HIV-positive soldier arrested for allegedly catfishing and raping more than 70 boys

A Thai, HIV-positive soldier has been arrested after allegedly catfishing and raping more than 70 boys.

Sergeant Major Jakkrit Khomsing, 43, used multiple fake profiles on Chinese gay dating app Blued and Facebook and used them to catfish more than 75 boys – 28 of which were aged between 13 and 18.

Using an image of a younger man, he talked to his victims to gain their trust and receive nude images of them, Thai newspaper The Thaiger reported.

Khomsing then arranged to meet them and threatened to release their nudes when they realised they had been catfished.

A 14-year-old boy filed the first complaint and claimed the military man raped him in his car after threatening to release his pictures online.

During the police investigation, detectives found Khomsing was using HIV treatment and tests confirmed he is HIV-positive.

Police Major General Surachate Hakparn told the Metro: “Even though the suspect is a soldier, this behaviour, and I’ve consulted with army commanders, is a personal issue, not an organisational one.”

Khomsing’s other victims have yet to file charges but the soldier was taken into police custody this week.

He has been charged with six offences so far, including sex with a minor under 15 with or without their consent – a crime punishable for up to 20 years in prison.

Police also charged him with indecent assault of a minor, using threats, separating a minor from their parents, blackmail and coercing minors to conduct inappropriate acts.
