Ford responds to homophobe’s comment with ‘very gay’ rainbow truck

Ford's custom-made 'Very Gay' Rainbow Raptor is the ride we need.

Ford has responded to homophobic comments in the best way possible: by going all out and decorating one of its cars in the Pride rainbow flag.

It follows criticism of the car manufacturer’s Raptor, originally coloured blue (‘Performance Blue’ to be precise) which some unimaginative keyboard warrior described as “very gay”.

Ford then created what they call “’Custom Very Gay Ford Ranger Raptor”, which is a vehicle we wouldn’t mind being seen in!

“’Very Gay’ was a compliment, right?’”

According to Ford, the model started out as a digital concept following the homophobic troll’s comment, but the brand decided that wasn’t enough and that we needed to have the real thing.

A sweeping rainbow in the colours of the Progress Pride flag now adorns the sides and front of the #VeryGayRaptor, while the back half is covered in magical gold glitter. A pink heart surrounds the Ford logo at the back of the truck.

Posting a video of the digital concept being created on the company’s Twitter account Ford suggested that “’Very Gay’ was a compliment, right?’”.


The video also shows the comment that caused such a stir also suggested that Ford paint the car “BlackNGold” [sic] as an alternative. The video ends with a “Happy Pride” message.

One person online commented that this was “the greatest advert” they’d ever seen, which Ford agreed with. Another person said the new model was “pretty awesome,” to which Ford replied, “Pretty awesome and awesomely pretty,” with a hands raised emoji.

The car has recently been travelling to Pride events in Europe, with many taking pictures with the vehicle.

We only hope it makes it across the Channel so we can get a snap for ourselves!
