Donald Trump blames Orlando shooting on immigration

By Anthony Lorenzo

Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump used the Orlando shooting to attack Muslims, immigration and Hillary Clinton in a controversial speech yesterday (June 13).

Donald Trump, ignoring the fact that the shooter, Omar Mateen, was an American citizen who was born in New York, said: “We cannot continue to allow thousands upon thousands of people to pour into our country, many of whom have the same thought process as this savage killer.”

He added: “Radical Islam is anti-woman, anti-gay and anti-American.”

Trump, who has recently called women ‘disgusting animals‘, informed Fox News he would hire Supreme Court Justices who would repeal pro-LGBT laws and who has vowed to build a wall to keep Mexicans out of the US, continued by attacking Hillary Clinton.

“[Clinton] wants to allow radical Islamist terrorists into the country. They enslave women, and kill gays. I don’t want them here,” he said.

Ignoring the likes of Christine Leinonen, who has called for America to revise its gun policies following the death of her son at Pulse, Trump added of Clinton: “She wants to take away America’s guns and then admit the very people who want to slaughter us.”

Meanwhile, Clinton is calling for tougher gun licensing regulations, so that potentially dangerous people cannot walk into any store and buy a killing machine. She also wants the sale of guns made for war restricted.

Trump’s speech was littered with factual inaccuracies claiming that Mateen was born in Afghanistan and not New York. He sought to convince listeners that migrants to the US weren’t screened before entry, when in fact, screening of migrants can last up to 18 months.

His now-infamous call for the banning of all Muslims from the US was countered by Clinton, who said, “Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people.”
