Melbourne cricketer James Faulkner clarifies that he isn’t gay after posting an image to Instagram of his ‘boyfriend’.

The cricketer was out celebrating his 29th birthday on Monday (April 29) and posted a picture to his Instagram account of him with his housemate Jubb and his mother Roslyn Faulkner.

He captioned the image: “Birthday dinner with the boyfriend (best mate!!!) @robjubbsta and my mother @roslyn_carol_faulkner ❤️❤️❤️ #togetherfor5years”

The post went viral and many of his followers congratulated him for coming out but today (April 30), he clarified that he isn’t gay and that he was celebrating living with his housemate for five years.

In another post on the social media site, Faulkner wrote: “There seems to be a misunderstanding about my post from last night, I am not gay, however it has been fantastic to see the support from and for the LBGT community.

“Let’s never forget love is love, however @robjubbsta is just a great friend. Last night marked five years of being house mates! Good on everyone for being so supportive.”
