Casey Spooner claims he co-wrote Madonna’s ‘God Control’ but hasn’t been paid

The former Fischerspooner lead singer took to Instagram to blast Madonna

Casey Spooner has revealed he co-wrote Madonna’s single ‘God Control’ but hasn’t been credited or compensated for it.

The former Fischerspooner lead singer – who is gay – took to Instagram to demand one per cent of the touring profits from the Madame X Tour and claims Madonna and French artist Mirwais – who he worked with on his debut album – have not credited him.

After Mirwais postponed his album to work on Madonna’s ‘Madame X’, Spooner decided to listen to ‘God Control’ only to discover it was the song he had worked on with Mirwais.

Although he emailed the French singer to ask about the compensation, he did not hear anything back and now it appears, Spooner has had enough.

Writing on Instagram, Spooner said: “I HAVE HAD ENOUGH @madonna and @mirwais.official have fucked me over.

“I co-wrote GOD CONTROL and I’ve gotten no credit and no compensation. I’ve been dealing with this for 5 months and I’m over it.

“I have played nice and been very patient but time is up! And honestly the terms are shitty. I’m getting a 25K advance against publishing royalties which after legal fees and taxes will be 10K?!?!

“It’s been an endless nightmare of lawyers and waiting and more emails…..and for what?! 10K? I should be getting paid a percentage of the live show.

“There is no money in record sales. Period. Not even for Madonna. I’ve seen the numbers. 

“@madonna I’ve changed my mind. I think 1% of touring profits will cover my contribution and damages.

“I mean, it is the opening number in the show. And while you’re galavanting around on stage….I’m completely broke in Berlin. Robbed, ignored and delayed.”

Spooner says he was offered $10,000 in advance with an additional 15 per cent of royalties and the singer was hoping to collect around $120,000.

However, Madonna’s rep said they are likely to offer to him only $25,000, Out Magazine reported.
