Caitlyn Jenner could be charged with manslaughter

Caitlyn Jenner could be convicted on charges of vehicular manslaughter over a fatal car crash earlier this year, police have announced.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have determined that Jenner was driving unsafely at the time of the accident, meaning that prosecutors will have the option of filing criminal charges against the 65-year-old reality star and former Olympian when they make their final decision on whether to prosecute.
The incident on California’s Pacific Coast Highway on February 7 left eight people injured and one woman dead.
Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said investigators have concluded that Jenner’s driving was “unsafe for the prevailing road conditions”, The AP reports.
Police have also issued an account of the accident, saying that Jenner, who was towing another vehicle in her Cadillac Escalade, steered to avoid cars slowing for a traffic light, but was unable to stop in time.
Her vehicle hit the back of two cars, pushing one of them – a Lexus – into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by an oncoming Hummer. The driver of the Lexus, 69-year-old Kim Howe, was killed.
Jenner could face up to a year in jail if convicted – but Daniel W. Vomhof, an accident reconstructionist, tells AP that as she has no previous convictions, the I Am Cait star would be more likely to face a fine or probation.
Jenner is also facing a separate wrongful death lawsuit filed by the children of Kim Howe, who accuse her of driving negligently, and are seeking damages over their “great losses.”
