British Army servicemen back Stonewall’s anti-bullying campaign

This week marks National Anti-Bullying Week in the UK, and among those to take a stand against the bullies are British Army servicemen, who’ve back Stonewall’s #NOBYSTANDERS campaign.
The pledge – which has already been supported by stars including Years & Years’ frontman Olly Alexander – aims to stamp out homophobic language and behaviour in the classroom, home and workplace, and soldiers from across the country have been adding their own names to make a stand against anti-gay language.
The pledge reads: “I will never be a bystander to bullying and teasing language. If I hear it, I will call it out and if I can, I will stop it.
“By adding my name, I promise to stand up for fairness, kindness and never be a bystander.”

Stonewall’s Chief Executive Ruth Hunt previously said of the charity’s #NOBYSTANDERS campaign: “We recognise that discrimination comes in all forms and starts early – in the playground name-calling and teasing that many people still tolerate and consider ‘normal’.
“So we’ve started the #NOBYSTANDERS campaign to unite everyone in Britain and encourage them to take a stand against bullying in all its forms.
“No one can afford to be a bystander to bullying and that is why we are calling on every single person in Britain to sign the #NOBYSTANDERS pledge: hear it, stop it.”
