Brighton Pride announce star-studded line-up for biggest celebration to date
One of the biggest pride events on the rainbow calendar is getting literally bigger, as Brighton Pride 2016 extends out its program to three days alongside two new Pride areas slap bang in the centre of town.
The celebrations will feature loads of live entertainment, music, bars and gourmet street food village – and Attitude will be right in the middle of it all, hosting the festival’s VIP lounge over the weekend!
Headlining a special concert on Friday August 5 is singer, songwriter, actress and LGBT activist Heather Peace, who appears alongside acoustic and folk singer and songwriter Lucy Spraggan.
On Saturday August 6 the main Pride Festival on Preston park will feature the UK’s biggest Pride Festival stage with live sets from top selling artist Fleur East, DJ Fresh and British singer/song-writer and Rudimental vocalist Anne-Marie already confirmed for the line up as well as celebrity hosts Seann Miley Moore and trans Icon Munroe Bergdorf.
Brighton and Hove Pride was the nation’s biggest Pride Festival in 2015 with over 290,000 people participating in the celebration across the Community Parade, Pride Festival on Preston Park and Pride Village Party.
Twelve months on, Brighton Pride 2016 will see the addition of The Pride Pleasure Gardens, running from Friday August 5 to Sunday August 7 on the iconic Old Stein Gardens and Victoria Gardens.
The Big Top Dance Tent has a capacity for 8,000 people and will feature sets from international producers The Freemasons and Swedish DJ and internationally renown record producer Stonebridge famous for top track ‘Put Em High’ with more artists being announced throughout the months running up to Pride.
The Pride Community Parade will host its own ‘Carnival Of Diversity’, with Uniting Nations being the 2016 campaigning theme reflecting the wonderful diversity global communities and Pride’s on-going commitment to campaigning for global LGBT+ rights.
“Pride has evolved over the years with more communities coming together to celebrate every aspect of our city, regardless of sexuality, race, gender, age or ability,” said a festival spokesperson.
“It’s important not to go back to themes that trivialise the important message behind the Pride Celebration and to highlight the lives and struggles of LGBT+ people across the world as we strive for equality for all.”
Last year broke fundraising records for Brighton Pride with £100,000 raised for community good causes and 200,000 people enjoying the biggest community parade to date.
