Bingham Cup to honour hero who died in 9/11 terror attack

Mark Kendall heroically fought the terrorists on United Flight 93, thwarting their plans

A man who died in the 9/11 terror attacks in the US will be honoured at the gay rugby tournament.

Mark Kendall was one of the plane passengers on board United Flight 93 which crashed in a Pennsylvania field killing all 44 passengers.

The terrorists who seized the plane originally intended to crash the plane into Washington DC, but due to heroic actions of some of the passengers, they managed to thwart their plans.

Now, as the Bingham Cup – the gay rugby tournament – gets underway this weekend, Mark will be honoured for his heroic efforts on board the flight.

The event’s full title is The Mark Kendal Bingham Memorial Tournament.

Mark was born in California and ran a successful public relations company and was a massive rugby fan who played for gay inclusive rugby union team San Francisco Fog – the first gay rugby team on the West Coast.

The International Gay Rugby Association and Board (IGRAB) set up the event to promote rugby union as an all-inclusive, non-discriminatory sport, Gay Star News reported.
