The Brexit party politician has a history of anti-LGBTQ voting

Ann Widdecombe fails to win a seat and is beaten by gay, Remain MP Luke Pollard.

During the general election results last night – which saw Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party dominate and win – the former Tory minister and Brexit Party candidate was going head-to-head against Remain campaign Luke Pollard.

But following the results, the Labour MP – who has faced a wave of homophobic abuse during the election campaign – beat the homophobic politician by a major win.

Pollard – who is now Plymouth Sutton and Devonport MP – received 25,461 votes while Widdecombe only received 2,909 placing her third behind the Tory Party.

Writing on Twitter after his historic win, Pollard wrote: “Thank you. Huge privilege to be re-elected for the city where I was born and where I live on a grim night for Labour.

“We now need a new generation of MPs to step forward to lead and to learn the lessons of defeat.

“Thank you everyone who put their trust in me again #lukeMP”
