Meet the ‘plus-size’ male model who’s just been signed to a major agency

IMG Models have signed an exciting new talent to their agency called Zach Mito. What’s different about Zach? He could be the world’s first plus size male model.
Introducing them on their website, IMG have described Zach as ‘brawn’, the dictionary definition of which is “strong” with “well-developed muscles.”
Zach, who is 6’6 and has a 40 inch waist, is from Connecticut in the U.S. and has become something of a poster boy for bigger men who feel good about their bodies and want to look fashionable.
Speaking to BuzzFeed, Zach said: “Being a man of size, I never imagined for a minute that this would be a possible career.” He praises IMG for their policy of “diversity, inclusion, evolution.”
, president of IMG Models Ivan Bart said: “The body positive messaging and size diversity is something that’s relevant and something that continues to be on everybody’s mind. We have to extend the conversation for men.”
He added: “I want every man in America to say, ‘I can do that’ when they see Zach.”
Indeed Zach has said the response online has been “overwhelmingly positive.”
“We have been told for so long that beauty is this one thing, but times are changing,” he said. “It’s a new conversation. Beauty comes in every variety. If you want to be a model, go do it. Dress up, take pictures, post on your Instagram, tell a story, be proud of who you are right now. Put yourself out there. You never know who is watching.”
