Meet Scott Mills’ new fiance, as Radio 1 DJ announces engagement in adorable Insta post

BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mills has announced that he and his boyfriend of four years Sam Vaughan are engaged in a heartfelt post on social media.

The DJ, 47, said he was “delighted” to share the news with his followers after popping the question on Saturday (23 October).

In the post, the presenter shared images of how he proposed to Sam, as well as several snapshots of the couple over the last four years.

“I love you with all my heart.”

Sharing images of a room filled with balloons, each carrying a photo of the couple, Scott and Sam can be seen embracing and basking in the moment. A small blue box is visible in one image (how could we miss it?!) suggesting a little something from Tiffany’s…

In the caption, Scott wrote: “Some Happy News! After 4 years together I’m delighted to say we got engaged at the weekend. As @samvaughan89 knows, I always said I didn’t think I would ever get married [sic].

“But then I met you Sam. You make me laugh every single day, you support me in so many ways and I adore everything about you. As soon as I met you I knew this could be something special and it is (after a slow start😂)

“We’ve had some amazing times, and I’m bursting with happiness to know we will have so many more. I love you with all my heart.”

Taking to his own Instagram, Sam posted an image of his left hand featuring the new simple silver band Sam said: “The beginning of forever. On Saturday the love of my life asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!

“I’ve had the most amazing four years and can’t wait to continue our journey! I never thought I’d find somebody who’s as obsessed with Sky News as me and I can’t wait to call him my husband! @realscottmills”

Of course, the pair’s news was gladly received by everyone with many of Scott’s Radio 1 colleagues, including Greg James and Clara Amfo sending their congratulations.
