Yasmin Finney is “manifesting” a Doctor Who and Heartstopper TV crossover.

The 18-year-old – who yesterday won a Pride Icon award at the Attitude Pride Awards 2022, in association with Magnum – shot to fame on Heartstopper, on which she plays Elle, earlier this year.

In May, it was announced that she was also joining Doctor Who, BBC One’s cult sci-fi show.

“I hope so!” Yasmin opined when Attitude asked her ahead of yesterday’s awards about the idea of the two shows overlapping one day.

“That would be amazing: a Doctor Who x Heartstopper crossover would be fab. We’re manifesting it…”

“It feels crazy to be part of the Whoniverse”

“It feels crazy to be part of the Whoniverse, to be seen in the industry as a Black, queer person — it overwhelms me with joy,” added Yasmin in her Attitude interview. “It tells me the industry is changing, we’re slowly getting there.”

Speaking of her two dual fanbases lifting her up, Yasmin said: “I know they’ll get along.”

“I didn’t know I’d be in the industry so soon,” continued the star, who turns 19 in August. “But I knew I wanted to make a change, ultimately, and bring something that hasn’t been done before. I think I’m doing a good job so far. What’s great is the cast are all so young. [Kit Connor and Joe Locke are 18; William Gao is 19.] We’re going through it together.”

Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa is also joining the next series of Doctor Who.
