The Voice was bombarded with complaints after airing a drag performance during last night’s live finale.
Chris Weaver was eliminated earlier in the season but returned to the show as his drag persona Nedra Belle for a special performance.
Weaver brought along pop star Jessie J as well as drag band Stephanie’s Child consisting of Jan Sport, Lagoona Bloo and Rosé for a performance of ‘Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)’.
While the performance was applauded by many, the show was also attacked by anti-gay viewers.
One Twitter user wrote: “#thevoice you just lost a loyal viewer with your show. I don’t need to see drag performers on what used to be a family show.”
#thevoice You just lost a loyal viewer with your show. I don’t need to see drag performers on what used to be a family show. You have so many other directions for performers that could have been highlighted. #iamdonewatching
