RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Cherry Valentine has discussed working as a nurse during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference today, the season two contestant described the situation as “madness”, adding that drag has been a “lifeline” for her amidst the chaos.

Thank you for all your hard work, Cherry!

 “Absolute madness”

“I’d be lying if I said it was fun,” the star said of 2020. “It was madness. Absolute madness.

“But I feel so privileged to be able to help, however which way I can.”

Asked if drag has been a release during the last year, the star – who is a fully qualified mental health nurse – added: “Literally a lifeline. I think that goes for a lot of us.

“I’d come off a crazy shift and slap my face on [and think] ‘pick that back up’. It’s really helped.”

Discussing her first impressions of RuPaul, Cherry added: “I was like, ‘is it a hologram?’ I had no idea. To be honest it [felt] like a lucid dream.

“RuPaul is just as Photoshopped and FaceTuned in real life! Smooth lines… no lines!”
