Queer people recreate Taylor Swift’s ‘YNTCD’ video in response to Polish “LGBT-free zones”

Polish LGBTQ activists and allies have created their own version of Taylor Swift’s ‘You Need To Calm Down’ in response to the “LGBT-free zones” created by the Polish government.
Just like the original Taylor video, the new version features famous LGBTQ people and allies in Poland including the vice president of Warsaw Patryk Rabiej and European Parliament member Robert Biedron.
The video was created by husbands Jakub and David and without any budget, they asked people to record themselves singing the song and managed to get around 350 videos from 140 people.
David said: “Considering a huge scale of homophobia in our country, it is 140 brave people.”
Other people included in the video include Top Model winner Radek Pestka and many journalists and TV stars.
“Finally, we managed to gather the most important and famous LGBTQ people in Poland in two weeks! That’s pretty amazing,” Jakub added.
In Poland there has been an increase in homophobic attacks and assaults over the past months with the Pride parade in Bialystok turning into riots.
The government is also supporting ‘LGBT-free zones’ throughout the country meaning people who identify as LGBTQ are not able to enter those zones.
At the end of the video, they explain how Poland is becoming one of the most homophobic countries in Europe.
