‘Moonlight’ has been named the film of the decade by Indiewire
The entertainment site ranked their list of the best films over the past 10 years

Moonlight has been named the film of the decade by IndieWire.
The Academy Award-winning movie was helmed by Barry Jenkins and beat the likes of La La Land for Best Movie during the prestigious film awards – but was somewhat overshadowed after the wrong film was named the winner.
But now, the entertainment site has ranked the 100 greatest films of the past decade and the LGBTQ movie took the number one spot.
The site described the film as: “This sprawling look at romantic desire and the emotional hardships of the African-American experience folds its fixations into a profound creative tapestry.
“On one level, it’s a deep tragedy told in passing glances. At the same time, it’s a rallying call that broadens the potential for black artistry to permeate popular culture in fresh ways.”
Other works of queer cinema making it onto the list include Carol at number seven, Call Me By Your Name was placed at number eight, The Handmaiden landed at number 70, and Dee Rees’ Pariah was given the number 72 position.
