Kathy Griffin talks ‘Fashion Police’ exit: ‘It wasn’t my best work’

Kathy Griffin has spoken out about her recent shocking exit from Fashion Police.

The US comedian joined the popular E! series in January, serving as the replacement for former co-host Joan Rivers who tragically passed away in September.

However, Griffin announced she was quitting the show with immediate effect last week after just seven episodes, claiming that she “wants to support women and gays,” and not “contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism”.

Now, Griffin has argued that she had come to realise that her brand of comedy didn’t fit with the style of the E! series.

“I don’t really feel it was my best work, I’ll be honest,” she said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show.  “I stand by my specials and my series. The lane that that show was in was so specific that they weren’t able to make the transition to the comedic lane that I work in.”

“I just don’t think that it’s really what I do. I think Joan was the master of the one-liners and the zingers.”

Going on to discuss Kelly Osbourne’s exit from the show last month (February), she added: “Look, I think that Kelly has said post [Fashion Police] that she had four or five such great years with Joan, and to me that means it’s not the same as it was with Joan. And I’ve got to be honest, I kind of felt the same way.”
