Janet Jackson to relax on reporting fan-made concert vids after complaints

Janet Jackson has announced that her team will relax its policy of removing fan-made videos of her current ‘Unbreakable’ world tour shows from social media, after fans complained that their accounts were being suspended.

The No Sleeep singer – whose latest album Unbreakable propelled her into the history books earlier this month after topping the charts Stateside – took to Twitter last night (October 21) to apologise to anyone who’d had their account suspended, and announcing that her team would no longer remove “short” videos.

“Hey you guys, I have been listening… I love and appreciate my fans. I want you to know that I enjoy watching the short video clips of how you are Burning It Up at the Unbreakable shows. Please keep posting them”, the 49-year-old wrote.

“My team is passionate about protecting the intellectual property we are creating for the tour and possible future projects,” she continued. “It was never their intention, acting on my behalf, to have social media accounts removed.

“Permitting the use of long clips does present a contractual problem for these projects. I hope you understand. I trust the fans will use their short recordings for their own memories and to share on their social media networks of choice.”

“I have asked my team to change their approach and allow you to engage socially with these videos,” the pop icon concluded. “I know I wouldn’t be here without the love I stand on.”

Jackson’s first album since 2008’s Discipline is currently being supported by a new world tour, which kicked off in the Americas in August and is set to hit the UK in late March and early April 2016.
