Janet Jackson denies she has cancer after postponing tour to undergo surgery

Janet Jackson has denied rumours that she is battling throat cancer after being forced to postpone her ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ in order to undergo surgery.

Jackson – whose latest album Unbreakable propelled her into the history books after topping the charts Stateside last autumn – announced on Christmas Eve that the 2016 leg of her ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ would be postponed until spring so she could undergo surgery for an undisclosed illness.

With US tabloids speculating this week that the 49-year-old is battling cancer after “sources close to the singer” claimed after doctors found a growth on her vocal cords, Jackson has taken to Twitter to deny that she has been diagnosed with the illness.

“It was Janet’s wish not to make any further comments about her health, however, because of the great concern from around the world, Janet will be releasing a personal message shortly” a message from her team read on Twitter earlier today (January 7).

The tweet was quicklt followed by a video message from the singer herself, with the caption “From my lips…”

After a clip of her new track ‘The Great Forever’ plays, with accompanying lyrics, a message from Jackson reads: “Remember… believe it when you hear it from my lips.

“The rumours are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled.

“Thank you for your prayers and love.”

The European leg of ‘The Unbreakable World Tour’ remains set to go ahead as planned for now, with Janet scheduled to play five UK dates in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glagow in late March and early April.
