James Franco honoured at LGBT film festival

was honoured at the Outfest Film Festival, which ran between July 7 and July 17.

The Actor, who’s relationship with the LGBT community has often divided opinion, had his latest film King Cobra – a biographical drama about the life of gay adult film star Brent Corrigan – shown at the festival, and was awarded the first James Schamus Award for his contributions to LGBT cinema.

In a pre-recorded acceptance speech, the 38-year-old – who revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year that that he has an “obsession” with telling LGBT stories on screen – spoke of his admiration for the LGBT community, saying: “So many of my heroes have been in this community, are a part of this community and I’m just honoured to be awarded this.

“I love so many of these stories and so many people and so many artists in particular. So, I’m honoured to tell their stories”.
