Home Office reportedly looking into Azealia Banks’ racist and homophobic tweets

Azealia Banks has stormed the headlines this week after her racist and homophobic Twitter rant at Zayn Malik. Banks was scheduled to perform at Hackney’s Born & Bred festival in June but was subsequently dropped by Rinse FM for her offensive tweets.

Now, according to the Metro, the Home Office is looking into Banks after spending last night (may 11) “studying” her tweets.

Although it doesn’t comment on individual cases, the Home Office said: “Coming to the UK is a privilege, and we expect those who come here to respect our shared values.

The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if it considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conductive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds.”

Banks has now deleted her timeline and then left a tweet with a series of screenshots where she explains her thoughts on the ordeal.

In the screenshots, Banks explains that she was angry at Malik because he thought “he was too good to acknowledge” her and “yet not too good to copy” her.

She says all she wanted to do was remind him that they were both in the same boat as they’re both “people of colour”.

She concluded her Twitter rampage by saying she was resisting the urge to say more “terrible things” at everyone and how people don’t deserve to breathe the same air as her.

“But obviously I’m insanely fucking talented and have already lowered myself to the levels of people who don’t deserve to share the same air I breathe.”

Seems like Banks’ rampage has come to an end now.
