Colin Farrell confirms role in ‘True Detective’ season 2

Colin Farrell has confirmed that he will star in the second season of True Detective.

The US detective series will return for a second run in 2015, following the success of the first season earlier this year.

Speaking to Ireland’s Sunday World, he said: “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited. I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot.

“I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”

The 38-year-old actor has long been rumoured to star in the second season as one of the replacements for Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn and Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss have also been tipped to join the series, but Farrell’s co-stars have yet to be confirmed.

True Detective airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
