Clean Bandit’s Neil Milan hits out at fans who say they want to ‘rape’ him

Clean Bandit’s Neil Milan might be dealing with an influx of romantic interest since rising to stardom as part of the Cambridge electro-pop group, but he’s taken to Twitter to hit out at people who express their attraction by saying they want to “rape” him.
The violinist said using the term as a form of ‘compliment’ – as is seen with worrying frequency on social media – was “gross” and “fucked up”, and that he doesn’t take it with good humour.
Seemingly fed up of seeing the violent sexual sentiments, Neil wrote on Twitter: “there is not aNYthing flattering, cute or attractive in being told by someone that they want to rape you. it’s gross and fucked up.”

His comment was supported legions of fans, who expressed their own concern at the trend.
“Preach! It’s gross how people think threatening to breach consent is a compliment,” one user wrote.
“WORD! Sadly many fans seem to see it as a compliment, like saying “I find you hot” or “You are sexy” etc. It’s SICK!” another added.
The Rather Be musician’s comments come just a couple of months after his boyfriend, Years & Years’ frontman Olly Alexander, also took to the social networking site to remind some female fans that just because he’s gay doesn’t mean he’s okay with being made to fondle their boobs.
Despite his current frustration there were happier times for Neil after a Clean Bandit show in the States last month however, when we was quick to congratulate one adorable couple who got engaged during one of the band’s shows – watch the adorable proposal here.
