Charlie Carver was slapped by gay colleague for being too ‘effeminate’

Charlie Carver has opened up about the shocking moment he was “slapped” by a gay colleague for being too effeminate.
The Boys in the Band star says the incident happened five years ago after he and the unnamed man had been working together.
He chastised him three separate times, Carver told Variety – culminating in physical assault when they were at an Emmys party.
“I was told that I needed to ‘get it under control’ around people in the business,” the Desperate Housewives actor said.
He was then slapped, explaining: “It wasn’t playful but intentional, pointed and meant to be instructive. A slap.
“I told him that if he ever touched me again, I would name him.”
The 32-year-old then explained there was a silver lining to the experience, saying: “That was the moment when I said to myself, ‘I can’t do this. I cannot police myself in that way.'”
Good for him.
Carver appears on the current issue of Attitude with his Boys In the Band costars, including Jim Parsons and Zachary Quinto.
Speaking about his character in our cover feature, Charlie said: “Cowboy is a young hustler introduced to the group as a birthday gift for Harold.
“He’s the only true stranger to everyone, but his youth and open nature quickly endear him to some and make him a target for other others.”
