Brian Dowling marries partner Arthur Gourounlian in Ireland

In a much-needed dose of happy news, Brian Dowling married his partner Arthur Gourounlian at a star-studded ceremony in Ireland yesterday (July 30).

The former Big Brother winner and presenter’s nuptials represent the first same-sex celebrity wedding in Ireland since equal marriage was legalised back in May.

The ceremony took place at the Powerscourt Hotel in County Wicklow yesterday afternoon, and was attended by a host of stars including Kimberley Walsh, Vernon Kay, Tess Daly and Louis Walsh, DigitalSpy reports.

Dowling’s former Big Brother housemate Narinder Kaur served as a bridesmaid, while celebrity PR agent Simon Jones acted as best man.

The ceremony was the second for the couple, who originally tied the knot in London earlier this year after being unsure whether equal marriage would be legalised in Dowling’s home country.

The 37-year-old has been in a relationship with Gourounlian, a professional dancer, for three years.

Speaking before the wedding, Dowling said: “We did it in London as we didn’t know how the law would go in Ireland. We wanted to make sure we got it right.

“All my friends and family are coming. Our suits are by Tom Ford. They are tight fitted. Especially at the back.”

Dowling first shot to fame after winning the second series of Channel 4’s Big Brother back in 2001. He was later crowned the show’s best ever housemate on 2010’s Ultimate Big Brother, before going on to front the re-launched Channel 5 edition of the show from 2011 to 2013. He now hosts game show Sitting on a Fortune on Ireland’s TV3.
