BBC Two to air ‘Gogglebox’ rival ‘The Kitchen’

BBC Two is to air a Gogglebox-style documentary series called The Kitchen.
The three-part series, from the creators of Channel 4’s BAFTA-winning Gogglebox, promises to capture “the modern spirit of family life” by following eight families across the country as they cook, eat and go about their daily lives together.
The families include The Bradshaws from Devon, who have been married for 50 years; the organic food-growing Garbutts from Gloucestershire; and the Mitchell-Cotts from Suffolk, who have six children and a menagerie of pets.
The Kitchen – which premieres next Monday (October 6) – also follows the ‘Clapham Boys’ who share a house in London, one of whom is Attitude’s very own Matt Wells (pictured bottom right).
In a statement, the BBC teased what viewers have to look forward to, saying:
“The Kitchen gives a snapshot of how some of us live and talk right now in Britain, reflecting British humour and eccentricities, as well as the conversations we share from immigration to parenting, summer holidays and the aging population.
“From dad banning phones at the table and mum’s failed attempts at the 5:2 diet, to uncle Barry yet again inviting himself over for dinner – it’s no coincidence that sitcom and drama writers return again and again to the kitchen table for the best quirky ingredients from the Brits.”
The Kitchen
begins on Monday (October 6) at 9pm on BBC Two.
