Andy Cohen defends Sarah Jessica Parker after Kim Cattrall outburst: ‘There’s only one person fighting here’
The 'Watch What Happens Live' host initially thought Cattrall's infamous Instagram post was fake.
Andy Cohen has lept to Sarah Jessica Parker’s defence after the actress was attacked by former Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall.
Cattrall publicly blasted Parker on Instagram over the weekend after Parker reached out to send her condolences following the death of Kim’s brother Chris.
In the scathing post, Cattrall accused Parker of exploiting “exploiting” the tragedy in order to restore her “‘nice girl’ persona.”
Now Andy Cohen defended hs pal Parker, saying during his Radio Andy show that he was so taken aback by Cattrall’s post that he initially thought it was “fake”.
“I was like, ‘There’s no way Kim Cattrall has posted this on her Instagram.’ This is a woman who is in the middle of grieving the loss of her brother, which is tragic and sad,” he said.
“She accused SJP of exploiting a tragedy… She follows Kim on Instagram, Kim posted about her brother dying, and she expressed her condolences on the post… She posted it in a comment! I would not call that ‘exploiting a tragedy’.
“What was she supposed to say? Say something bad? I mean, I don’t understand. I also don’t like it that people are characterising this as a catfight. There’s only one person fighting here…”
The Watch What Happens Live host continued: “Sarah only said the nicest things about her. The only thing she’s ever commented about the movie or about Kim not wanting to do the movie was that she was disappointed that the studio pulled the plug on it.
“I don’t get it. It’s a cat fight of one from where I see it.”
Last year, Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the series and movies, branded her relationship with her former co-stars as “toxic” in the wake of the news that Sex and the City 3 had been cancelled.
