America’s Next Top Model cancelled after 12 years

Well that’s it people. After twelve glorious years of smizes, sub-par panel looks and tears on make-over day, America’s Next Top Model is coming to an end.

The show’s network CW announced yesterday (October 14) that Tyra Banks‘ inescapably addictive modelling competition will not be renewed for 23rd cycle, making the current 22nd season its last.

The show will conclude for as the end of its current run, with the series finale set to air on Friday, December 4 – hopefully with the show’s sexually fluid hottie and first ever deaf contestant Nyle DiMarco still involved in proceedings.

“America’s Next Top Model was a successful franchise for two networks, first at UPN and then The CW, and it became not just a ratings hit, but a global phenomenon,” network boss Mark Pedowitz said.

“I want to thank Tyra and Ken [Mok, co-creator] for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the US, but all across the world.”

The CW will mark ANTM‘s end by putting together a special retrospective programme due to air in 2016. The show first aired in 2003 and has since spawned several international version, including the recently-revived Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model.
