Adam Lambert tells Queen fans he isn’t ‘trying to replace’ Freddie Mercury

Former American Idol star Adam Lambert is set to embark on another tour with original Queen band members Roger Taylor and Brian May, Gay Star News reports.

On the tour, Lambert will be singing classic Queen hits ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Are The Champions’, ‘Somebody To Love’ and more.

However, speaking to Time Magazine, Lambert has revealed that he’s not trying to “replace” Freddie Mercury, the band’s original lead singer.

He said, “At some point every night I talk to the audience about it, like, ‘I know. I’m not Freddie.'”

“I’m not trying to replace him. It’s more a celebration of the legacy of the band – that’s the heart of the show.”

Lambert’s tours with the Queen band members have helped boost his solo career into stardom and states he can push his performances as far as possible.

“A handful of the songs in the set are ridiculous – high camp,” Lambert adds.

“Because the audience already loves the song, I know I can push it as far as I want. it’s the most liberating thing.”

The Lambert and Queen tour is set to start in June, spanning through to August.
